Show Me The Cause Community Guidelines
1. Purpose
Show Me The Cause exists to empower schools, teams, nonprofits, and community groups to raise funds through ethical, transparent, and community-driven fundraising.
These Community Guidelines outline the standards we expect from Organizations, representatives, and customers who use our platform.
Participation in the Platform requires compliance with these Guidelines, in addition to our Terms and Conditions.
Show Me The Cause reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to approve, deny, suspend, or remove any campaign or account at any time for violations of these Guidelines or conduct that may harm the integrity, reputation, or mission of the platform.
2. Integrity in Fundraising
All fundraising campaigns must:
• Accurately represent the Organization
• Clearly describe the intended use of funds
• Avoid misleading, exaggerated, or false claims
• Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws
We reserve the right to request verification of an Organization’s identity, tax status, or fundraising purpose.
Fraudulent or deceptive campaigns will be removed immediately.
3. Lawful and Permitted Causes
The following are prohibited:
• Illegal activities or criminal enterprises
• Hate groups or discriminatory organizations
• Campaigns promoting violence or extremism
• Adult or sexually explicit causes
• Political campaign fundraising unless expressly approved
• Activities that violate school district or nonprofit regulations
Show Me The Cause reserves sole discretion in determining whether a campaign aligns with our mission and values.
4. Students, Youth Participants, and Adult Oversight
Fundraisers involving students or youth participants must be supervised by a designated adult organizer affiliated with the Organization.
Only authorized adults affiliated with the Organization may create, manage, or control fundraiser accounts and payout information.
We may require verification of adult oversight at any time.
We do not knowingly permit children under 13 to create accounts independently. Participation by students or youth participants must occur under authorized adult management.
5. Respectful Conduct
Users must:
• Treat others with respect
• Avoid harassment, threats, or abusive language
• Refrain from discriminatory conduct based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
• Avoid impersonation of individuals or organizations
We may suspend or terminate accounts engaging in harmful or disruptive behavior.
6. Honest Promotion
When promoting campaigns:
• Do not misrepresent partnerships or endorsements
• Do not create false urgency or misleading scarcity claims
• Do not manipulate reviews or testimonials
• Do not attempt to artificially inflate fundraising totals or referral credits
Users may not attempt to manipulate leaderboards, referral systems, discounts, promotional structures, or any platform functionality for unfair advantage.
Transparency builds trust. Trust sustains fundraising.
7. Use of Content
Organizations may upload logos, photos, and descriptions. You must:
• Own the rights to uploaded content, or have permission to use it
• Not upload copyrighted material without authorization
Organizations may not use Show Me The Cause trademarks, logos, or branding in a manner that implies partnership, endorsement, or official affiliation beyond the approved fundraiser.
8. Financial Transparency Expectations
Organizations should:
• Communicate clearly with supporters
• Use funds in alignment with stated purposes
• Maintain appropriate financial oversight
While Show Me The Cause is not responsible for how Organizations ultimately use funds, we reserve the right to delay, withhold, or cancel disbursement of funds in cases of suspected fraud, misrepresentation, or violation of stated campaign purposes pending investigation.
9. Safety and Reporting
If you believe a campaign violates these Guidelines, you may report it at:
support@showmethecause.com
We will review reports promptly and may:
• Request additional information
• Temporarily suspend a campaign
• Remove a campaign permanently
10. Enforcement
Violation of these Guidelines may result in:
• Content removal
• Campaign suspension
• Account termination
• Withholding or cancellation of funds
• Referral to law enforcement if required
Enforcement decisions are made at the sole discretion of Show Me The Cause.
